Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point

Melanie and I went to the Tulip Festival today at Thanksgiving Point. It was also Dutch Days, so that was fun. It was freezing cold and cloudy, but we had a good time. The tulips were amazing! I love Thanksgiving Point's gardens. I think my favorite is the Secret Garden. So pretty. It wasn't too crowded which was nice. THey had this cute little elderly couple doing a dutch dance (notice their wooden shoes). I love old people:) I think they are super cute;) After the Tulip Festival we headed over to the deli at Thanksgiving Point. It was super busy. After we ate lunch we came out and it was pouring. Good thing we went to the festival early.

I was on Etsy one day (I'm on it everyday!) and I started searching for all things Elphaba and Wicked. I found this necklace and fell in love with it. It's called Defying Gravity. LOVE IT! I was looking for something unique for Mother's Day and my friend Nikki recommend checking out her sis-in-law on Etsy. So I went over to Kim's shop on etsy.com and found this really cute fairy portal. She makes them out of polymer clay. She also includes some sticky putty so that you can attach it to your wall. Escape by Carolyn Jessop

My sis-in-law Melanie recommended I read this book and let me borrow hers. I got this book and finished it in about 5 days. It was the most bizarre memoir I've read. It details Carolyn's life growing up in Colorado City and marrying Merril Jessop. It also talks about Warren Jeffs taking over as the FLDS leader. What an a$$hole!!!! You would never know by looking at him on tv. he looks like some mild mannered man. But oh no, not the case. Very interesting reading and it held my attention. It also made me very grateful that I want not born into a life like that. I would recommend this book for sure.

Etsy Store: The Orange Plum

I ran across The Orange Plum on another blog months and months ago (before my etsy obsession). She sells the cutest headbands and best of all they are no slip! The Silverlime

Okay, my first blog about a store. I was looking at the Sweet Life in the Valley blog and ran across this necklace that i totally loved. So I hoped on over to the website. It's www.thesilverlime.com. I need to post more often! So I was thinking that maybe I can blog about books that i'm reading and maybe even cool shops on the etsy website. Will people actually read the blog more? If I put a book on here and you actually read it let me know what you think! Or if I give a shout out to a website I want to hear about that too. I would love to hear feedback from people:) Even if it's only the two or three people that actually read the blog:)

Wicked Sunday!!!

Scott and I went to see Wicked yesterday afternoon at the Capitol Theater. It was AMAZING! I've been waiting for so long to see this. I read the book about 8 or 9 years ago. When I heard that there were making a musical about it in 2003 I had to see it! It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I'm biased though because I have a huge Wizard of Oz obsession anyway. But this is all about my favorite character and she is the good guy! I never really cared for Dorothy much. For me it was always about the ruby slippers, the wicked witch, and the flying monkeys. Donna Vivino (Elphaba) and Katie Rose Clark (Glinda) did such an amazing, AMAZING job. I highly recommend this show to everyone. Scott even enjoyed himself. The visuals were stunning and the singing was unbelievable. It fed my Wizard of Oz addiction!

Spring Fever!

I have a serious case of spring fever. I'm so sick of the snow. I know, it's spring in Utah, but c'mon. I AM OVER IT! There are so many things I want to get out and do. I need to weed the front flower bed. And there are so many flowers and things I want to buy and plant. And I want to go fly fishing with Scott and go camping and JUST BE OUTSIDE!!!!!! Phew, I feel better now.
